Danica was filled with a seething rage as she watched Kelli laugh. "You think you can get away with this?" she hissed through gritted teeth.
Kelli's eyes narrowed, a malicious glint in them. "You're nothing but a pathetic loser, Danica. You've lost everything - your fiancé, your brother's love, and soon, your family's respect."
Danica's hands clenched into fists at her sides. "You're wrong. I won't let you win. I'll expose you for the conniving witch you are."
Just then, Ricky stepped forward, his face a mask of cold indifference. "Danica, you should have known better than to cross us. You're outnumbered and outmatched."
But Danica refused to be intimidated. She squared her shoulders and stared him down. "I'm not afraid of you, Ricky. You're a coward who uses others to get what you want."
Ricky's face flushed with anger, but before he could respond, a group of guests began to approach. Kelli quickly composed herself and plastered a fake smile on her face. "Let's not make a scene," she whispered to Ricky.
As the guests passed by, Danica took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She knew she had to be careful. She couldn't let her emotions get the best of her and ruin her chances of getting revenge.
Later that night, after the birthday banquet had ended, Danica slipped away from the manor. She made her way to a small, secluded alley where she had arranged to meet a private investigator.
The investigator was a grizzled old man with a sharp eye and a no-nonsense attitude. "What do you have for me?" he asked as soon as he saw Danica.
Danica handed him a small envelope filled with cash. "I need you to find out everything you can about Kelli and Ricky. Their past, their secrets, everything."
The investigator nodded and pocketed the money. "I'll do my best. But this won't be easy. They're both very careful."
Danica knew he was right, but she was determined. "I don't care how difficult it is. I need to know the truth."
With that, she turned and left the alley, her mind filled with thoughts of revenge. She knew she was playing a dangerous game, but she was willing to risk everything to make Kelli and Ricky pay for what they had done to her.
