Holly's heart pounded in her chest as she watched Pete Abernathy's lecherous eyes roam over her. She felt a mixture of anger and discomfort, but she knew she had to keep her composure. Chris, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying the situation a bit too much, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Thanks for the offer, Pete," Holly said through gritted teeth, "but I have plenty to keep me occupied this weekend." She emphasized the word "plenty" and shot a pointed look at Chris, who had the decency to look slightly abashed.

Pete Abernathy chuckled, a sound that made Holly's skin crawl. "Well, if you change your mind, my door is always open." He winked at her, and Holly had to suppress a shudder.

Just then, Casey came running up, his hair tousled and his face flushed. "Sorry I'm late!" he exclaimed. "I got caught up with some friends and lost track of time."

Kayden and Reilly groaned in unison. "Typical Casey," Kayden said, shaking his head.

Chris grinned and ruffled Casey's hair. "Well, you're here now. Let's get this show on the road."

As the boys climbed into the truck, Chris turned to Holly. "Have a great weekend, babe," he said, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "We'll be back before you know it."

Holly forced a smile. "You too. Have fun and be careful."

She watched as the truck pulled away, leaving a cloud of dust in its wake. As the sound of the engine faded, she let out a sigh of relief. Finally, she was alone.

She turned and walked back into the house, closing the door firmly behind her. The silence was almost deafening, but it was a welcome change from the chaos of the morning. She made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a glass of cold water, gulping it down thirstily.

As she set the glass down, she noticed a note on the counter. It was from Chris. She picked it up and read it, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. It was a simple message, telling her how much he loved her and how he was looking forward to coming home to her.

Holly felt a warm glow spread through her. Despite his teasing and competitiveness, she knew that Chris truly loved her. She folded the note and put it in her pocket, then made her way upstairs to take that long-awaited shower.

The water was cool and refreshing, and she let it wash over her, rinsing away the heat and the stress of the morning. She took her time, lathering her body with soap and shampooing her hair. When she finally stepped out of the shower, she felt like a new woman.

She wrapped a towel around herself and walked into the bedroom. She opened the closet and surveyed her options. Since she had the weekend to herself, she could dress however she wanted. She decided on a pair of shorts and a tank top, something comfortable and casual.

As she was getting dressed, she heard a knock at the door. Her heart skipped a beat. Who could it be? She walked downstairs and peered through the peephole. It was Jennie Hayworth, her neighbor.

Holly opened the door with a smile. "Jennie, what a surprise!"

Jennie smiled back. "Hi, Holly. I just wanted to see if you wanted to come over for a cup of coffee or something. I know you're alone this weekend and I thought you might like some company."

Holly hesitated for a moment. She had been looking forward to some alone time, but she also didn't want to be rude. "That sounds nice," she said finally. "Let me just grab my keys and I'll be right over."

She closed the door and grabbed her keys and purse. As she walked over to Jennie's house, she realized that maybe having some company this weekend wouldn't be so bad after all.
