In a cruel twist of fate, Elizabeth's life spiraled into a maelstrom of despair seven days ago when she received the devastating news of her leukemia diagnosis. It was as if a dark cloud had suddenly eclipsed the sun of her existence, casting a long and ominous shadow over her future. The doctor's pronouncement, like a death knell tolling in her ears, gave her a meager three days to prepare for the inevitable and set her affairs in order. As she staggered out of the doctor's office, her mind was a blank canvas, painted over with shock and disbelief. She was like a ship lost at sea, rudderless and adrift in a vast ocean of uncertainty, unable to fathom that such a catastrophic storm could have crashed into her life.

In that moment of utter desolation, Elizabeth clung to the one lifeline she thought she had - her fiancé, Mason. With trembling hands, she dialed his number, her heart pounding like a drumroll of hope and fear. But when his cold, clipped voice pierced through the phone line, "Elizabeth, I told you before, don't disturb me during work hours," it was like a frigid gust of wind extinguishing the flickering flame of her hope. Undeterred, she summoned every ounce of courage from the depths of her soul and pleaded with him to share her birthday with her in three days, baring her terminal illness like an open wound. To her horror, Mason's impatience erupted like a volcano, scorching her with his dismissive words and leaving her heart charred and bleeding. He hung up on her with a click that reverberated through her soul like the slam of a prison door.

Refusing to surrender to the abyss of hopelessness, Elizabeth embarked on a desperate mission. She gathered Mason's favorite delicacies, as if they were offerings to a heart that had become as cold and unyielding as stone. She journeyed to his company, her steps heavy with anticipation and dread. There, at his office door, she was like a supplicant waiting for a miracle, only to be greeted with the pitying glances of the secretary. And then, like a bolt from the blue, Daisy emerged from the office, her smile as bright and sharp as a dagger. Mason's gaze followed her like a moth drawn to a flame, his eyes filled with a tenderness that had never been bestowed upon Elizabeth. It was as if she were witnessing a beautiful, yet cruel, tableau painted by fate, where she was the forgotten figure in the background.

Elizabeth summoned her dignity like a shield and presented the food to Mason. But Daisy, like a conniving siren, entwined herself around Mason, her words dripping with false sweetness. "Mason, I told you, Ella is a great wife. Just look at this food; it's obviously what we love to eat!" Mason, like a puppet on her strings, ruffled Daisy's nose with affection, his voice oozing with indulgence. When Elizabeth questioned Daisy's presence, Mason's eyes turned on her like searchlights of accusation. "Elizabeth, is this amusing? You just threatened me with your illness, and now you can't stand Daze? You really are narrow-minded." And with that, he swept Daisy away, leaving Elizabeth in the wreckage of their indifference, the slammed door echoing like a cannon shot in her ears.

As the days slipped through her fingers like grains of sand in an hourglass, Elizabeth prepared for her birthday with a dogged determination. Each day, she cooked a symphony of his favorite dishes, her kitchen a stage where her love and desperation played out. But Mason remained an elusive phantom, never materializing. When he finally deigned to agree to spend the morning of her birthday with her, Elizabeth dressed herself up like a princess waiting for her prince, her heart aflutter with a fragile hope. But as the hours ticked by and afternoon bled into evening, he was still a no-show. The photo that Daisy sent, a cruel snapshot of their revelry, was like a poisoned arrow that pierced Elizabeth's heart. In it, Mason and Daisy were like the king and queen of a joyous kingdom, surrounded by people and a magnificent birthday cake that seemed to mock her own solitary table. Panic and worry swirled around her like a tornado, ripping through her composure and leaving her a broken heap on the sofa.

In the face of Mason's heartless abandonment, Elizabeth's love for him began to crumble like a decaying fortress. She stared into the abyss of her wasted years, her heart heavy with the weight of a love that had been unrequited and betrayed. With time running out like a ticking time bomb, she made a decision that was both liberating and terrifying. She packed her bags, leaving behind the dreams and memories that had once filled the space they called home. It was like shedding the skin of a past life, a painful metamorphosis that left her raw and exposed.

But fate, like a mischievous puppeteer, had one final, cruel act in store. At the supermarket, she found herself face to face with Mason and Daisy once again. They were like a pair of lovebirds, feeding each other ice cream, their laughter a bitter melody in Elizabeth's ears. When Mason accused her of following him, his words were like a lash that cut through the air. "Elizabeth, are you following me?" She turned to face him, her eyes now devoid of the tenderness that had once been there, like a lake that had dried up in the desert of his indifference. Daisy, with her feigned innocence, played her part to perfection, draping herself over Mason like a parasitic vine. "Mason, you should have celebrated Ella's birthday. Look, we've made her angry." And Mason, like a blind fool, lapped up her act, patting her hand with a concern that should have been Elizabeth's. When Daisy offered the bracelet, it was like a slap in the face, a false gesture of kindness that reeked of condescension.

Then, like a bolt of lightning from a clear sky, Mason's words struck Elizabeth with a force that shattered her soul. "Elizabeth, you're really disgusting; on the surface,...
