Sixteen years ago in Russia, twelve-year-old Anatoli Scarfoni's life was shattered when his mother was killed and he was left to face a terrifying fate. In the present day in Boston, Avrora Galitze is about to marry Mikhail Scarfoni. However, on their wedding day, Anatoli, now a powerful and vengeful man, arrives and objects to the wedding, claiming he is the eldest Scarfoni son and rightful heir. He reveals the long-buried family secrets and the truth of his past.

Avrora's life is turned upside down as the wedding is postponed and she is taken to Anatoli's house. She is terrified and confused, realizing her father may have known about this all along. Anatoli has his own plans for revenge, not only against his father's family but also against Uther Galitze, who he holds responsible for his mother's death. As Anatoli takes control of the situation and asserts his power, Avrora must find a way to navigate this new and dangerous reality, unsure of what the future holds for her and those she cares about.
