The next morning, a delta guard taunts Elise, and she discovers that Ka'al can communicate with her telepathically. He warns her again not to run when he's in rut. As the time approaches, Elise is pushed into Ka'al's cell, her innocence hanging in the balance, and her future looking bleaker than ever.
