The story unfolds with the protagonist, Maya, attending an unforgettable party at an abandoned mill in the forest outside Misenium city. The party was filled with joy, featuring lively music, dancing, and drinking. However, her encounter with Aaron took an unexpected turn. Despite knowing that dating colleagues was off - limits and the forest was rumored to be dangerous, Maya, influenced by alcohol, agreed to take a walk in the woods with Aaron. During the walk, they heard howling wolves. As the situation escalated and they were seemingly surrounded, a large black wolf attacked Aaron. Maya managed to escape back to the mill but was then stopped by five men. They didn't believe her story about the wolf and seemed to be hiding something. When Aria Mann and Jace Killman arrived, they went to the scene but found no trace of the attack. Since then, Aaron has disappeared without a trace, and the authorities in Misenium city seemed to be doing little to find him.

Back at work in Milner Insurance company, there was a significant change. The new CEO, Zane Carrington, from Misenium, took over. Maya was eager to catch a glimpse of him. After finally seeing him, she was deeply attracted by his appearance. At a meeting, she made a terrible first impression when she failed to respond promptly to his greeting. Later, she received an email from Zane, asking her to come to his office the next day at 10 am, which made her extremely nervous.

Adding to her troubles was her new assistant, Kim. Since Kim joined the company, Maya had a bad feeling about her. Kim seemed fake, and the men in the office were overly interested in her, which annoyed Maya. Kim even interrupted Maya's presentation. Maya considered firing Kim but worried that the bosses might not agree because of Kim's attractiveness.

On the day of the meeting with Zane, the meeting was postponed from 10 am to 2 pm, increasing Maya's anxiety. At lunchtime, Kim invited Maya to have lunch together. During the lunch, Harry saw them and made some remarks. After lunch, Maya went to the pharmacy to buy pain relievers. Now, she was finally on her way to Zane's office, filled with fear and anticipation, not knowing what to expect from the meeting.
