The story unfolds with Gabe Linden, a man working at a private military contractor and now a successful entrepreneur with his Osmium Resource Group. After swimming, Estelle confronts Gabe about his intentions. She questions why, despite the romantic setting, he hasn't made any moves on her. Gabe reveals that he's not looking for casual relationships anymore; he wants a wife. And since Estelle is set to marry someone else, he's trying to keep his distance.
However, the intense attraction between them proves too strong. In a moment of passion, after Estelle suggests they have a one - time encounter before they marry other people, Gabe finally gives in and kisses her, crossing the line he had been trying so hard to maintain.
