The story revolves around Emily Gale and her tumultuous relationship with Hunter Jackson, a wealthy, handsome, and respected man in Bentson City. Their engagement and subsequent marriage were marred by a scandal orchestrated by Emily's own sister, Wendy, who sought to destroy Emily's reputation and take her place in Hunter's life.
On the night of her engagement to Hunter, Emily is drugged and nearly compromised by two male makeup artists. Hunter's subordinates intervene, preventing a worse outcome, but the incident tarnishes Emily's reputation and leads to a strained marriage where Hunter never fully trusts her again. Despite this, Hunter honors his grandmother's wishes and marries Emily, though their relationship is cold and distant.
Three years later, Emily decides to divorce Hunter, unable to bear the lack of affection and trust between them. During the divorce proceedings, Emily discovers Wendy's betrayal, learning that her sister was behind the plot to ruin her life. Heartbroken and betrayed, Emily dies, only to find herself reborn in her 18-year-old body, moments before the engagement party where her life took a tragic turn.
Determined to change her fate, Emily realizes that she has another chance to prevent the disaster. However, she is once again drugged and finds herself in a precarious situation, with the same male makeup artists searching for her. In a desperate attempt to escape, she takes a car from the hotel's parking garage, unknowingly commandeering the vehicle belonging to none other than Hunter himself. Threatening Hunter with an eyebrow trimmer, Emily forces the car to leave the premises, but upon realizing who she is threatening, she is filled with regret and confusion.
Throughout these events, Hunter remains composed and enigmatic, showing little reaction to Emily's actions. His cold demeanor masks a deeper concern for Emily's wellbeing, as evidenced by his immediate response to her distress and his later efforts to protect her dignity and honor. The story sets the stage for a complex narrative of second chances, betrayal, and the possibility of redemption and true love.
