Theressa, a young woman in her mid-twenties, has just endured a heart-wrenching breakup. Six years of a relationship with Justin Mitchell, her childhood friend turned lover, came crashing down when he ended it through a cold text message. To make matters worse, she discovers that Justin has moved in with her best friend Eunice, and their blatant display of intimacy leaves her shattered.
In the midst of this personal crisis, Theressa receives a summons from her team leader at work. She is perplexed as it's during her approved sick leave and her leader rarely initiates personal conversations. When she arrives at the company, she finds an atmosphere of gloom. Her colleagues are somber, and she soon learns that she is being fired. Despite her dedication and hard work in the marketing team, the director's decision seems unjust. It dawns on her that the director's inappropriate advances, which she had rebuffed, might be the reason behind her termination.
As if that wasn't enough, on her way home, an SUV splashes muddy water on her, leaving her drenched. The occupants' callousness only adds to her misery. However, a man from the car shows concern, but she is too distraught to accept his offer.
Back at her apartment, Theressa is at a low point, facing unpaid rent and a bleak future. But then, Fred, a former coworker, arrives with a glimmer of hope. He presents her with an opportunity at M'Race, a car production company, for a high position working directly with the CEO. The interview is the next day.
Theressa prepares for the interview, choosing a red midi dress meant for her and Justin's anniversary. At the interview, she is nervous, especially when she recognizes the CEO, Tolomeo Marcelo, as the man from the SUV incident. The interview takes a strange turn when he asks probing questions about her problem-solving skills and her firing from the previous job. His knowledge of her past and the implications of his questions leave her on edge.
Ultimately, she is told she is not fit for the job. But Tolomeo reveals that he knows about her refusal to sleep with her previous boss and suggests that she would have faced similar expectations at M'Race. He gives her a business card and offers her the job if she wants it, leaving her with a difficult choice.
Theressa walks away from the company building, determined not to sacrifice her dignity for a job. She heads to the hospital to visit her mother, her heart heavy with the challenges she faces but still holding onto the hope of finding a better path forward. Her journey is filled with setbacks and moral dilemmas, yet she remains resolute in her search for a life that respects her values and offers a glimmer of hope in the face of so much adversity.
