The protagonist of the story is Meredith Florrick, whose life takes an unexpected turn after an accidental event.

Meredith is an intern at a large company. She and her roommate and best friend, Fiona Woods, support each other as they face the challenges of life. One night, the company holds a dinner party at a hotel. After having too much to drink, Meredith wakes up in a hotel bed, only to find Terrence Sterling, the company's big boss, beside her. Rumors have it that women involved with him always come to a bad end, and Meredith is terrified. She hurriedly escapes, unaware that she has dropped a resume.

Back at the rental apartment, Meredith lies to Fiona, saying she stayed at a colleague's place. Fiona asks her for the resume, and it is then that Meredith realizes it's missing. Later, while busy at work, Meredith surprisingly gets promoted and transferred to the secretary's office to become Terrence's secretary. She is full of doubts and fears that Terrence might recognize her and have ulterior motives.

Meanwhile, Terrence wakes up in the hotel and, seeing Meredith's dropped resume, mistakes Fiona for the woman from that night. He finds Fiona and offers her a check for five million dollars or the chance to become his woman and move into Thornfield Gardens. Fiona is extremely tempted and decides to seize this opportunity to change her fate. She moves in the very next day.

During her interactions with Terrence at the company, Meredith increasingly finds him handsome and charming. At the same time, she is extremely cautious, afraid that he will discover the truth. After a social event, Meredith takes the drunk Terrence home, unaware that Fiona is also there. Fiona tries to get close to Terrence while he is drunk but is scolded and sent away by him because of the lily scent on her. It turns out that Terrence hates the smell of lilies, and Fiona has changed many things, including her shampoo and hairstyle, in an attempt to please him.

Meredith discovers that Fiona has suddenly moved out and is very worried that she has been deceived. She learns from the neighbor that Fiona's new boyfriend seems very rich and is determined to find out the truth.

In this story full of misunderstandings and entanglements, how will Meredith handle the increasingly frequent contact with Terrence? Will Fiona be able to win Terrence's heart? Can Meredith uncover the truth about Fiona's new relationship? What will become of their friendship? All of this will gradually be revealed in the following story. The wheels of fate have already started to turn, and the lives of the three will become even more complicated.
