Myrna Wagner's life has long revolved around Ansel Howard. For six years, she was head over heels in love, sacrificing her own life and space, always ready to reconcile whenever he came back after a breakup. But this time, things seem different.
When Ansel shows up at Gavin's birthday party with a new love, Myrna is faced with the harsh reality. Ansel's blatant display of affection with the new woman, including a passionate kiss, shatters Myrna's heart. Ansel then tries to end things, claiming their relationship has become boring and distant. He even offers a 50-million-dollar check and a valuable property transfer contract, believing Myrna won't accept as it would mean the end of their relationship. But Myrna, realizing the worth of her six years, takes them and walks away.
Back at the villa, Ansel expects her to return as usual. However, Myrna spends half an hour packing a small suitcase, leaving behind designer clothes and jewelry. She calls a cleaning company and heads to her bestie Joanna's house. The next day, Ansel is in for a shock. The absence of the familiar stomach-nourishing porridge and his favorite beef sauce made by Myrna makes him realize things have truly changed.
Myrna, on the other hand, cashes the check and deposits large sums in different banks, becoming a wealthy woman overnight. She also transforms her appearance, cutting her long curly hair short, straightening it, and dyeing it black, symbolizing her break from the past.
But life throws another curveball when she hears that Professor Thoreau, her former mentor, is sick. Memories of giving up her academic pursuits for love flood back, filling her with guilt. At the hospital, she runs into Ansel's sister Vita, and reveals that she and Ansel have separated.
Meanwhile, Ansel, confident that Myrna will come back, is in for a rude awakening. When his friends try to call Myrna and find out she has blocked his number, the disbelief sets in. Blithe even suggests a game where Ansel has to call Myrna and apologize, but Ansel refuses, still in denial about the finality of their breakup.
As Myrna tries to come to terms with her new life and face the consequences of her past choices, Ansel is left wondering if he has truly lost her. Will Myrna be able to move on completely and build a new life for herself? Or will Ansel's arrogance and belief in her undying love prove correct? Please stay tuned for the full book to witness their journey of love and growth together.
