William Brown, a 23-year-old accomplished architect and computer engineer, has returned to his hometown of Apex City for a two-month break before starting his own company, "AR Group". He resigned from his prestigious job at Scott Designs in Z city, telling everyone he had taken a cumulative leave of three years. While back home, William spends most of his time restoring a house he bought when he was 18 or helping his cousin Ria with her wedding preparations.
One evening, despite being exhausted from working on his house, William is called out by his friend Evan for drinks at a local bar. There, he encounters Pete, who is relentlessly flirting with Rosaline Dayne, a recent post-grad in Interior Design and basic Architecture, who is there celebrating the end of her studies. Rosaline is not interested in Pete's advances and tries to fend him off, which leads to an amusing yet tense interaction observed by William.
Pete's persistence eventually annoys Rosaline, pushing her to devise a plan to get rid of him. Before she can execute her plan, William intervenes, pulling Pete away under the pretense that Pete needs to talk. It turns out Pete has just been dumped by his girlfriend Supriya, and he confides in William about the breakup while also revealing details about Supriya's past manipulative behavior towards William and others.
Rosaline listens in as William explains Supriya's history of deceit, including how she once framed him during their childhood. Moved by this revelation, Rosaline advises Pete to move on from Supriya. Afterward, William thanks Rosaline for her help and attempts to start a conversation with her, leading to a brief but intense exchange where they both feel an inexplicable connection.
The next day, Rosaline finds herself in trouble when a local newspaper publishes misleading photos of her interactions with Pete and William, labeling her as a "shameless groupie". This causes distress within her family, especially her parents who express concerns over their reputation and plans for her future engagement. Meanwhile, William resolves to confront Supriya about her actions.
In parallel, Tom and Rita Brown, who are close friends with Rosaline's parents and have considered matching their son Maddox with Rosaline, discuss the implications of the news article. They decide to delay any engagement discussions until they can better assess the situation.
Throughout these events, the narrative delves into themes of misunderstanding, trust, and the complexity of relationships, highlighting the challenges faced by young adults as they navigate their personal lives and career paths.
