Cara is at a low point in her life, drinking in an upscale hotel bar with her ex-husband's credit cards which are declined. She's alone in Chicago with no friends, income, or prospects. 

Eros Kahzan, a handsome and powerful man, steps in and pays for her drink. He offers her dinner at a Greek place where he's treated like royalty. Cara is hesitant to accept help as she's been through a difficult marriage with Christopher, who was initially nice but became violent after the wedding. Eros wants to know who she's running from and offers her a room at the Drake Hotel. Cara, despite her reservations and lack of experience with men other than her ex, agrees. 

In the suite, they share champagne and eventually kiss passionately, leading to a sensual encounter on the couch. Cara decides to embrace this moment of pleasure, knowing it might be her only chance for a while.
