Trevor, an old friend of Grayson's, is asked to put together a team to help find the root cause of the murders. He assembles a team of five, including Keera and Lexi (forensic scientists), Joe (a retired firearms and weapons expert), Josie (a profiler), and Kathleen (a bioengineer).

2. Keera's Involvement and Her Past with Werewolves:

Keera has known about werewolves since she was seven years old and has had a negative view of them ever since. Her friendship with Ginny ended when she discovered Ginny was a werewolf. Ginny's brother, Grayson, had blamed Keera for Ginny's change in behavior and was hostile towards her.

Despite her initial reluctance, Keera agrees to lead the team due to curiosity and sympathy. She arrives early for the meeting with the Alpha and is mentally preparing herself to face Grayson again.

3. The Meeting and the Introduction of the Team:

Trevor arrives early to the meeting and greets Keera in a way that makes her wonder about his feelings towards her. The rest of the team arrives, and Trevor introduces them all. He informs them that Keera will be leading the team, and they seem to accept it.

Grayson enters the room, and he and Keera lock gazes. Grayson is immediately drawn to her scent, realizing she is his mate. Keera manages a small wicked smile at him, and they have a tense exchange. Keera questions Grayson about his pack's cooperation, and he agrees to ensure they cooperate.

4. The Complications of Mate Bond and Ginny's Reaction:

Grayson is conflicted about Keera being his mate, given their history and the fact that she hates werewolves. He also feels her emotions, which adds to the complexity.

After learning that Keera is the team leader, Ginny is horrified. She has not fully dealt with the past, and Keera's impending arrival brings back all the unresolved issues. Ginny storms out after Grayson tells her, and Grayson punches the wall in frustration.
