In the midst of a wild Halloween party at Adam Rochester's luxurious mansion in Santa Monica, Kaya, a computer science major and a struggling waitress, finds herself in an unexpected and increasingly perilous situation.
Dressed in a "slutty pumpkin" costume that she now regrets, Kaya is initially just trying to endure the chaos of the party. But when she meets Veah, a captivating girl dressed as a mob boss with wicked-long, curved swords on her back and a missing pinkie finger (or so it seems), everything takes a strange turn. They share a night of wild antics, from dancing on countertops to diving into the pool, and end up handcuffed to each other for reasons Kaya can't quite recall.
The next morning, as they try to figure out how to get free, they are thrust into a heart-pounding series of events. Veah leads Kaya to a silver Porsche that doesn't seem to belong to her, and as they speed away, Kaya notices people watching them. But before she can process this, a truck hurtles towards them, and in a seemingly impossible display of reflexes, Veah swerves to avoid a deadly collision.
However, instead of stopping to help the truck driver, Veah accelerates away, leaving Kaya in shock and confusion. When Kaya tries to call the police, Veah throws her phone out of the window. Now, handcuffed together and on the run, they arrive at Kaya's house, only to be ambushed by gunmen speaking Japanese.
Veah, who seems to have some mysterious skills and a gun that's clearly not a toy, protects Kaya, taking a bullet for her in the process. But she doesn't seem fazed by the injury and continues to fight back with deadly accuracy. With their lives in immediate danger and no clear way out, Kaya must decide whether to trust this strange and alluring girl completely as they face an unknown and terrifying future.
