The story begins with Clyve, who is reluctantly set up on a blind date by his brother Skipper and Skipper's girlfriend Arella through the dating app HeartRated. His date, Emily, a boudoir model, leaves abruptly when she misunderstands Clyve's mention of painting as part of his therapy, thinking he has PTSD. Frustrated with the dating app experience, Clyve is about to uninstall it but is intrigued by a cam girl named Sindy Kate.

After a heated argument with his brother about controlling his life, Clyve is sent to a cabin in a small town. Upon arrival, he is stunned to find that the woman at the cabin, Westley, is the same person as Sindy Kate. Westley is initially cold and sarcastic towards Clyve, but as they interact, their relationship starts to change.

During dinner, Clyve and Westley get to know each other better. Clyve discovers that Westley is a good cook, and they talk about his vegan lifestyle, among other things. After dinner, they sit on the deck, and Clyve tries to have a conversation with Westley, but she gets angry when he pries into her personal life and the relationship with Keene.

The next day, Clyve goes for a run and receives an email from Arella. He realizes he should call his brother to ease his worries. Keene lends Clyve his phone, and Clyve reconciles with his brother over the phone.

Westley then comes to Clyve's cabin, telling him about some activities that are supposedly part of his stay. In reality, it's just her way of showing him around. They go to a lake, where Clyve takes pictures, and they have a conversation on the boat. Westley shares some of her childhood pranks, and Clyve talks about his disastrous date.

Later, they visit an old - fashioned bookstore and an antique shop. In the antique shop, Stan, the owner, gives Clyve a priceless portrait as a gift, and Clyve buys an old necklace with a blue teardrop pendant that reminds him of Westley's eyes.

Back at the cabin, Clyve thanks Westley for the day. Westley mentions the "two - week package," indicating that she's just fulfilling a duty as a host. Clyve decides to stay in the next day on his own.

That night, Clyve logs in to the website and sees Sindy Kate online. He is shocked to realize that her voice is a mix of Sindy and Westley, further confirming his suspicion that she and Westley are the same person.
