Leo Cohen returns to Emerdale after five years in the military. He arrives at the airport and is greeted by a military salute and his guard, Nadine Moore. She informs him about Lydia Henderson and other developments. Leo then heads to the Fords' residence, where he learns that his adoptive father, William Ford, is on his deathbed.

At the Fords', he faces hostility from Caroline, her boyfriend Raymond, and her family. Raymond tries to stop Leo from seeing William, but Leo overpowers his bodyguards. Caroline accuses Leo of being responsible for her family's problems. Rebecca, Caroline's mother, even tries to attack Leo with a knife.

Leo agrees to admit to his "crimes" to see William. Raymond allows him in but has ulterior motives. Leo examines William and starts acupuncture treatment. However, Chris Lawson arrives with his men, causing chaos and smashing furniture. Chris taunts Leo and orders his bodyguards to attack him. But Nadine appears and quickly defeats the bodyguards. Leo reveals that Nadine is his guardian and scares Chris into revealing that Raymond was involved in William's poisoning. Leo throws a silver needle at Raymond, killing him.

The Fords are shocked and discuss their business problems, especially an important tender in the afternoon. Leo cures William, but the Fords don't believe it at first. Caroline tells Leo to leave. Leo leaves and gets into the Rolls Royce with Nadine. She informs him that Lydia Henderson is the founder and CEO of Atlas Beauty at the International Commerce Center and has a five-year-old daughter, which causes Leo to react strongly.
