As the only child of the family, she grew up in a harsh environment. After her father's death, she became the heir to the family's legal business. Despite the prevalent patriarchal concept in the Italian Mafia world, she strived to hold her ground. The male protagonist, Marcello Viscuso, is a mysterious and powerful figure. From his every move, it's not difficult to tell that he wields great power in the Mafia world. This novel unfolds a series of thrilling and emotionally entangled stories between Elsa and Marcello after Elsa experiences family tragedies.
Elsa's life took a dramatic turn on that dreadful night. At that time, her father took her to a party and introduced her to his business associates. However, the sudden sound of gunshots shattered all the tranquility. Her father fell in a pool of blood, and Elsa's world instantly collapsed. Since then, she has been living under the shadow of fear and pain, distrusting everyone around her.
Three months later, danger loomed again at Uncle Lorenzo's party. Shortly after Elsa entered the party, she felt being followed. After leaving the party, the car she was in was closely chased by a black Saab. Along the way, the car kept fleeing, trying to get rid of the pursuit, but eventually fell into a desperate situation. The tires were blown out, and bodyguards Diego and Matteo engaged in a fierce gunfight with the enemies, and the situation became hopeless.
At this critical moment, Marcello appeared. He and his men repelled the enemies and saved Elsa. However, when Elsa woke up from a coma, she found herself in a strange and luxurious room. Her first reaction was that she had been kidnapped. Facing Marcello, who appeared suddenly and was assertive, Elsa angrily questioned him.
Marcello remained extremely calm. He told Elsa that the outside world was full of dangers, and only by staying with him could she be truly safe. Elsa didn't believe him at all. In her opinion, Marcello was just another person with ulterior motives. But through their conversations, Elsa gradually learned that the person who had been tracking her was most likely Federico Russo, who was also the prime suspect in her father's murder. Marcello said that he had been keeping an eye on Federico's every move and noticed his malicious intentions towards Elsa that night, so he followed him.
Although Elsa was skeptical about Marcello's words, she had to admit that the situation was indeed critical. As for the reason why Marcello protected her, he was always reluctant to disclose too much, just insisting that Elsa obey his arrangements. This made Elsa very angry, as she didn't want to be at someone else's mercy like this.
In the following days, there were constant clashes between Elsa and Marcello. Elsa tried to escape from the place that trapped her, but every time she was stopped by Marcello. Although Marcello seemed tough on Elsa on the surface, there seemed to be a different kind of concern in some of his subtle actions.
As time passed, Elsa gradually discovered that Marcello's world was far more complex than she had imagined. She began to wonder why this man was so persistent in protecting her.
