This is a thrilling gangster romance novel. The male protagonist, Kai, is a skillful and cold-blooded assassin wandering in the dark world, bearing a heavy past. The female protagonist, Nera, is the daughter of the boss of the Boston Mafia family, living in a world where family glory and constraints are intertwined. Their fates unexpectedly collided one night, and since then, a heart-stopping story full of love, hate, and passion has begun.
At the beginning of the story, under the cover of night, Nera was in her living room. Although she couldn't see clearly, relying on the sixth sense that had been deeply rooted in her heart since the first time she met Kai years ago, she was certain that he was there. The familiar yet somewhat strange deep voice rang out, wrapping around Nera like a thick blanket, instantly immersing her in complicated emotions. Countless days and nights of longing in the past flooded into her mind. However, the Kai in front of her now had several shocking scars on his face, and his voice was even hoarser and rougher. Before Nera could recover from the shock and pain, Kai unexpectedly raised a gun equipped with a silencer and ordered her not to move. Then, a muffled sound broke the silence.
Going back five years, 19-year-old Nera attended a family gathering. On the surface, she looked glamorous, but in fact, she was exhausted by the pain during her period. The insincere small talk from the people around her and the utilitarian matchmaking attempts by the elders all made her feel annoyed. She confided in her friend Dania, longing to break free from this seemingly magnificent but actually life and go to college to study veterinary technology, even if it was just to experience the life of ordinary people for a while. After the party, on her way home, Nera saw a wounded man—Kai—struggling to walk in an alley. Out of kindness, Nera approached him despite the danger, but Kai immediately pulled out a gun and pressed it against her temple, his eyes cold and fierce. However, Nera didn't flinch. Eventually, she decided to help this mysterious and dangerous man.
Kai came from a special unit called Z.E.R.O. He was taken out of a juvenile psychiatric hospital by the team leader, Lennox Kruger, and trained to be a killing machine. This mission was supposed to be a simple "hit and run," but due to incorrect intelligence, he was caught in numerous crises and got shot several times. Nera took Kai to the veterinary clinic. Facing the bloody wounds, Nera, who had never had the experience of removing bullets before, was extremely frightened. However, Kai was calm and guided her through this difficult operation. During the process, their bodies accidentally came into frequent contact, and a strange affection quietly grew in Nera's heart. Kai's perfect yet scarred body and his fearless look towards death were deeply engraved in Nera's mind. And Kai, perhaps, also felt the long-lost warmth from this brave and innocent girl.
In the days that followed, Nera often thought of Kai. Her father's conversation with her about her future marriage made her even more upset. The family expected her to marry someone who was beneficial to the family, but in her heart, there was always Kai's shadow. She told her sister Zara about this experience, and Zara was horrified and scolded her for her recklessness, worried that she would get into danger.
