On a sunny morning, I, Neera, tossed and turned in bed all night. Today is of great significance to me because it is my first meeting with a high-society family in my life. I come from an ordinary background and attended a public college near my home as my parents couldn't afford a world-class university. After graduation, I worked as a sales assistant, and my salary was barely enough to cover living expenses, repay my student loan, and save a little. My father became disabled in both legs and had a weakened heart due to an accident years ago, and my mother had to work part-time as a housekeeper to pay for his medical bills.
My friend Azila called, reminding me of my promise. It turned out that I was to be engaged to the second son of the famous Lawanson business family in Sura City, an arrangement that stemmed from an agreement between our grandparents and caught me completely off guard. Azila came to my rescue like an angel, bringing me suitable clothes that helped me present an elegant appearance at the meeting.
The Lawanson's mansion was extremely luxurious, like a palace. There, I met Mr. and Mrs. Lawanson, who were in their manners. However, my future husband, Edward, was absent due to his busy business. Mr. Lawanson announced that the wedding date was set for the first weekend of next month and the engagement ceremony was cancelled, proceeding directly with the wedding preparations, which left my mother and me astonished.
At the hospital, I showed my father the engagement ring and asked about the reason for the agreement, but he said it wasn't the right time to tell me. Back at work, I asked my boss, Samara, for leave. She was extremely shocked when she learned that I was about to marry Edward Lawanson. Later, Mrs. Lawanson called to inform me that I should go for a wedding dress fitting on Friday and Edward would accompany me, which made me both and nervous.
Meanwhile, Edward's life was not calm either. His secretary told him that someone had taken a picture of him having dinner with a woman at a restaurant and was blackmailing him for two million dollars. Edward decided to find out the details of the other person before taking any action.
While I was busy with work, I went to the Aniston Group to deliver books and unexpectedly fainted in Brian Aniston's office. He was handsome and sympathetic. He not only took care of me but also arranged for someone to send me back to work. Later, I shared the news of my upcoming wedding with my colleague Jackie, and she was extremely surprised. Edward, on the other hand, had been troubled by dreams about me since I delivered those books to his office and was eager to see me again. In the entanglement of fate, the story between me and Edward has just begun, and the future is full of uncertainties and challenges.
