Kaya and Veah are the main characters in the novel "Escaped from the mafia". The story is about how Kaya and Veah get into an extremely dangerous situation due to an accident and then embark on a thrilling journey of escape and confrontation.

Kaya is a computer science major student at the California Institute. She comes from an ordinary family in Dallas, Texas. To ease the family burden and support the living and study expenses of her sister Cassie, she works as a waitress in a restaurant called "Pride & Pasta" which serves gay drag queens in her spare time. She leads a busy but ordinary and fulfilling life between studies and work. Veah, on the other hand, is a mysterious figure deeply involved in the Japanese mafia (Yakuza). She has a unique charm, being handsome yet with a cold air, like an emissary from the dark world, with countless unknown stories and formidable power that makes people in awe.

This novel tells a story full of thrills and twists between Kaya and Veah. The story starts from a grand yet dangerous Halloween party. Kaya, wearing a sexy and cute pumpkin costume, accidentally meets Veah, who is dressed as a domineering mob boss, in the hustle and bustle of the party. However, when the revelry of the party gradually fades and the morning sun shines, Kaya is extremely shocked to find that she is tightly handcuffed to Veah, and her previous memories seem to be covered by a thick fog. She has no idea how all this happened. To break free from this inexplicable restraint, they start a perilous journey. 

While driving a silver Porsche that is suspected to be stolen and fleeing, they almost have a head-on collision with a truck first. Then, the truck explodes immediately, and the raging fire devours everything in an instant. Veah's abnormal reactions in this series of events make Kaya full of doubts. And when Kaya tries to call the police for help, Veah quickly throws her phone out of the window. This action makes Kaya realize that she seems to be involved in a huge trouble far beyond her imagination. After returning to the apartment that Kaya shares with her roommate Lindsay, the crisis does not dissipate. Instead, it comes like a surging tide. The mafia members appear like ghosts and launch a frantic attack on them. Veah instantly transforms into a brave warrior and fights to the death with the enemies in the hail of bullets with her agile skills and accurate shooting. At this critical moment of life and death, Veah does not hesitate to use her body to block a bullet for Kaya. At that moment, Kaya is deeply shocked. What's more surprising is that after being injured, Veah's actions are not affected at all. She is still as vigorous as a cheetah and continues to fight fiercely against the enemies. In this heart-stopping life-and-death battle with the mafia, Kaya also gradually overcomes her inner fear and grows from a simple and weak college student into a strong partner who can fight side by side with Veah. They flee around in the streets and alleys of the city. Every evasion is like a narrow escape under the scythe of death, and every decision is related to life and death.
